As I prepare to pursue my next career challenge, I feel it is important to highlight some of my past experiences and to share some of my personal life so one can better understand what makes me unique.
My wife, Amy and I met a long time ago when I moved to the Chicago suburbs at the age of 12. We became best friends during those formative teenage years and decided that the 127 miles that separated us while in college would not be a hindrance to our future together. We married the fall after Amy graduated from the Butler University College of Pharmacy and have had everything for which we wished ever since.
We started a family after both of us established our careers and moved just a few miles from the hometown in which we met 14 years prior. Emily and Graham changed us from a happy couple to a family of four (I suppose it is five if you include our dog, Jozie) and added a whole new reason for us to continue our successes. Being a father has been an incredible honor and has provided more joy than anything else I have experienced in my life.
I am an avid motorsport and soccer fan and do my best to encourage my kids to support the Chicago Fire as I have for so many years. While I follow many professional racing series, I also dabble in some high performance driving as a weekend enthusiast. I also enjoy well written television series and movies.
As a professional, I have been granted several roles which have helped to develop me into the well rounded person I am today. I pursued roles in the printing industry after graduation and, while I enjoyed both of them, I now know that the printing industry is not in my future. These roles did teach me the importance of working with integrity, paying attention to detail, and quick problem solving.
I left a full time career to be an at-home parent for my young family and to allow my wife to further her professional goals. Being able to raise my children has taught me compassion, patience, and further honed my time management skills.
After being at home for some time, I was asked to take on a new role in public relations that allowed me to work from home when needed and travel on weekends. This position has helped me to expand my writing skills and helped me learn to manage important professional relationships. I have found a particular personal satisfaction in this position because it combines my passion for racing with a skill set which I possess.
Knowing that I still have a long professional career ahead of me, I have created and maintained a strong network of people around me and made sure to stay on top of news and events that shape the current economic climate. I have never imagined a life that did not involve me returning to a professional career in a business related field.
Several years back, I took steps to continue my efforts of a return to the full-time workforce by starting work towards an Illinois Professional Educator License with a Chief School Business Official endorsement. I completed the certification in August 2018 and started as the Business Manager at Peotone CUSD 207U shortly thereafter. Since 2022, I have served as the Executive Director of Finance/CSBO at Troy CCSD 30-C in Plainfield. I am excited to be using my business management skills and to become a total leader in education. While this is just the start of my career in public service, I expect to make an impact in the lives of Illinois school children today and in the decades to come.
